I started this post last night, but since I was doing
that while sitting in bed (thanks to the convenience of my laptop and my
grandparents’ wireless network) I soon got too tired to finish. ;)
Sugaring
The
weather has not been quite right for the sap to flow much yet, but we have been
putting buckets and lines up in anticipation. We hope that it will flow at
least enough for us to sweeten the pan before we go home!

Violin
With
grandparents that enjoy hearing their grandchildren play musical instruments, my
violin-teaching opportunities, a program that a small group I play with is
doing at a nursing home next month, plus a recital coming up at the beginning
of June, I am glad that I was able to bring my violin along to Vermont so that
I can continue practicing. Not to mention that I would consider playing the
violin my favorite pastime!
Shower
Due
to frozen pipes at my grandparents, we have been taking showers down the lane
at my uncle’s house. Thankfully due to the setup here at my grandparents there
is one bathroom that we can still use, but it does not have a shower. So . . .
it has been interesting to bundle up and walk down the lane to shower!
Poem Presentation
As
part of the Literature course that I am trying to finish up so that I can get
my diploma, I had to recite the poem “Where Go the Boats?” by Robert Louis
Stevenson, which I did on Tuesday evening at suppertime.
Dark
brown is the river,
Golden
is the sand.
It
flows along forever,
With
trees on either hand.
Green
leaves a-floating,
Castles
of the foam,
Boats
of mine a-boating—
Where
will all come home?
On
goes the river
And
out past the mill,
Away
down the valley,
Away
down the hill.
Away
down the river,
A
hundred miles or more,
Other
little children
Shall
bring my boats ashore.
Pro-Life Ministry
It
is interesting how being away from something really gives perspective on it. I
have been thinking a lot the past couple of days about my involvement in
pro-life ministry and my dear brothers and sisters back in North Carolina who minister
at the abortion clinics there. Last night I had a dream about “A”, the woman
that my father, sister, and I had spoken to who ended up getting an abortion a
few days later. When I woke up this morning I had an overwhelming sense of missing
being able to go out to the clinics, not because it is something that anyone
could enjoy, but because there is a great need and I know that God has called
me to help fill that need.
