I have very blessed (as I always am :) reading through the book of Hebrews recently. One of the things that seems to stand out to me every time I read through are the places where Jesus is called our High Priest. I think that is a very fitting and touching analogy. In the verse below, something else got my attention this time through as well:
The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing, but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently. Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens; who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. For the Law appoints men as high priests who are weak, but the word of the oath, which came after the Law, appoints a Son, made perfect forever. ~Hebrews 7:23-28
That thing that stood out to me is the adjectives used to describe Jesus: holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. As we ought to be like Jesus, let us ponder whether these things are in our lives!

Thank you for sharing what you have been learning during your Bible reading, Anna. I was blessed by these thoughts that you shared! Hebrews is indeed a wonderful book full of such deep truth. When I was younger I used not to enjoy it as much as I had difficulty understanding it, but the more I read it, the more it opened up to me. Now it is one of my favorite books!
It is amazing to think of the attributes that Christ has and then know that we are to follow in His footsteps. We are to be striving to become more and more like Him . . . holy, innocent, undefiled are the adjectives that you shared that especially stood out to me. It is a wonderful, albeit not easy, calling, but it is a joy to follow Him; and especially knowing that our Savior is there to help us every step of the way!
You're welcome, Sarah, I am glad what was shared was a blessing to you! I would agree on the point of not appreciating Hebrews (and other parts of the Bible) when I was younger because they were harder to understand.
The last part of your comment made me thing of part of a hymn by Fanny Crosby:
All the way my Savior leads me,
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my Guide?
He will give us all the grace we need to become like Him; it's up to us to follow!
