Orchestra Camp 2014!

Orchestra camp is gone for another year, but I am so thankful for all of the special memories that I now carry from the weekend and for all of the things I learned! My sister (who also plays the violin) was able to come along this year, as well as two of my friends from the area.

My whole family had planned to go along until a last minute change of plans the morning that we were going to leave. Only three of us—my mother, sister, and I—ended up going. We left Thursday morning and arrived at the Elnora Bible Institute in Elnora, Indiana late in the afternoon. After getting settled into our dorm room we visited with the other musicians who had arrived until the first rehearsal that evening. After practicing the music with my sister and two friends for the past two months it was so much fun to hear it with the whole orchestra!

Friday and Saturday were filled with chapel, practice time, rehearsals, sectional practice, music workshops, visiting, meals, and more practice!

Me marking my music
All too soon, it was time for the Saturday evening dress rehearsal. It’s amazing what two days of dedicated practice can do—it sounded so different than our first rehearsal only 48 hours before!

The whole orchestra rehearsing on Friday
I just have to include this because I like it. :) During one of the breaks on Saturday my mother, sister, two other musicians, and I took a walk out behind the school to this little "town", which is part of the fairgrounds. This is the church building for the little fairground town.
On Sunday we had brunch, morning chapel, dorm cleanup, and breakfast. Then we got a group picture and did some last minute going over the music. At two o’clock we had the final concert.

After the concert we had goodbyes to say—that was the only sad part of the whole weekend. :( We left for home around five that evening and arrived home just over nine hours later. I’m already looking forward to next year! Until then, I’m excited about all of the new musical skills that I am going to be putting into practice!

Thank you Victoria, I liked that picture, too! :) I agree - it did go WAY too fast. I really wish they'd make it more than three days long! Thank you for being such a patient stand partner! ;)

I hope that posting will be a little more frequent now that I'm not practicing for AOC. And I always enjoy your comments!
