Our Most Precious Resource

The following quotes were shared at our church last Sunday during a message on TIME, which is the most precious resource that God has given us!

The problem with killing time is that you cannot resurrect it.

You cannot kill time without injuring eternity.
~ adapted from Henry David Thoreau

(To those who aren’t familiar with it, these two quotes play off of the phrase “killing time”, which means to be idle or to do something just because you have time to use up. These quotations make for some interesting thoughts to ponder, but I do not think that a Christian should use or have any need to use this phrase as it is commonly used. We should always be productively engaged, using for God’s Kingdom this precious resource that He has entrusted to us!)

Thought provoking quotes to be sure!

I would agree, A Joyful Chaos, I was very convicted by them myself!

This is a good reminder, Anna! A verse that came to mind after reading what you shared is "making the most of your time because the days are evil." Time can be so easy to waste, yet how important it is for us to seek to use every moment for the Lord and for His glory.

Thank you for sharing!

That verse fits very well, Sarah! I agree that time can be easy to waste, especially when the line is not clear. For example, some things may be a waste of time to some people when they wouldn't be for others. And some activities would be a waste of time if not done at the proper time. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts!

It's interesting, I have been studying the subject of "redeeming the time" lately so these quotes were very timely for me!

What interesting timing, Victoria! Maybe sometime I'll get to hear what you have learned about redeeming the time!

Those are very good quotes...I'm working right now on trying to better manage my time. I'm afraid I "kill" more time than I should. :( I agree,it is a precious resource! You are such a good role model :)

Theresa, you're so sweet! (Maybe you should come watch me for a day - I think I am a better role model of procrastination!) But with the Lord's help I certainly can overcome my bad habits and use His time as He wants me to! May He help you to do the same.
