God is the Truth. The Bible is the truth about the Truth...

Richard (Reuben) Wurmbrand was a prisoner in communist Romania for 14 years as a follower of Jesus Christ. Thus, this man must have had some vivid experiences and close times with Jesus. People like this are ones to listen closely to. He had no Bible for 14 whole years, thus he says, "God is the Truth, the Bible is only the truth about the Truth". He remained close to Jesus for 14 years without the Bible. I am not saying we should not read our Bibles, we should! We should become familiar with God's Word while we have it, but are we more interested in the Truth or the truth about the Truth? Which do we know better? Which do we spend more time with?

How amazing to think that he was without the Word for so long. What a true follower of God he must have been.
Yes, I was surprised when I heard he was without the Bible for 14 years as well! I would think there are not too many (probably not any) lukewarm Christians in communist countries, because they know what will happen if they confess Christ. That is the good thing about persecution, it makes us think more carefully about following Jesus. I think that is one of the reasons the United States is so lukewarm.
